Organizations like the Singapore Sports Council are focussed on developing a sporting culture in Singapore and are actively catering a range of events to stimulate and encourage participation among Singaporeans, promoting an active lifestyle to people of all ages and fitness levels.

Join Kelven Tan as he shares the latest developments and initiatives currently undertaken to promote the Sports Industry: a rapidly growing industry with a host of potential opportunities for those looking at crafting a Career within this sector.
"The Singapore Sports Council has developed three Strategic Thrusts - namely to inculcate a sporting culture among Singaporeans, to achieve sporting glory in the international events and to create a robust sports industry. Believing that these driving forces will create an active and healthy society in Singapore, bonding Singaporeans and developing a strong national identity, it will also help forge stronger relationships with other nations. Eventually, this will result in a strong & powerful ecosystem contributing to Singapore's economy."
Kelven Tan joined Singapore Sports Council (SSC) on 9 July 2007 as Chief, Sports Marketing, overseeing its high participation and industry development groups including sports business and international and mega events. He also provides leadership guidance across SSC and the sports industry as a member of its senior management. Bringing with him a wealth of experience, Kelven is actively involved in numerous industry task forces and advisory work, playing a significant role in elevating the profile of sports further in this rapidly growing industry.
Prior to joining SSC, Kelven has had an impressive track record from leading the operations planning of Singapore Flyer as General Manager; to leading his team towards winning many international awards at the Sentosa Leisure Group as Product Management Director; to delivering a fully integrated family entertainment and retail shopping experience for various projects in Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore at Kerry Leisure Concept, Southeast Asia.
He has also served on the National Day Parade's Creative Advisory Panels and been awarded the International Association of Amusement Parks & Attractions Meritorious Service Award for contribution to the growth of international relations among its members in Southeast Asia. Kelven is currently the only Asian who is a Certified Festivals and Events Executive (CFEE) awarded by the IFEA based in Boise, Idaho.

~ OBS - Where Career Meets Adventure ~
Mr Edwin Siew, Head (Training Development),
Outward Bound Singapore
Attend this session with Edwin Siew as he introduces us to the Outdoor Adventure and provides an overview of the many fun and challenging outdoor activities geared towards helping individuals and teams develop leadership skills and teamwork.
The evening will see highlights on various career opportunities available at Outward Bound Singapore (OBS), centering round the role of its Instructors – an important team of individuals contributing to the organisation’s success. Together, Edwin will also share various key benefits and skills an individual can expect to acquire through its valuable training that is catered to groom each potential candidate.
Well known for his contribution as the first Singaporean to summit Mt Everest in 1998, Edwin has more than 14 years of experience in the adventure education industry under the Outward Bound Singapore (OBS). Currently leading a team of more than 40 OBS Instructors and a Trainer for OBS’s corporate programmes, his list of clients includes OSIM, INSEAD, UOB, Singtel, Temasek’s holding, SIA, etc.
Proficient in both technical and water sport coaching, Edwin is a qualified life saver and a wilderness first aider. He is also a certified sport climbing instructor under the Singapore National Climbing Scheme (SNCS) and a resource trainer under the UIAA approved Singapore Adventure Leader Training (SALT) in Tropical terrain.
Apart from his list of mountaineering achievements that include expeditions to Tibet (Cho Oyu 1997, Xixabangma 2002 (8012m in alpine style), Mt Vinson 2000 (4897m) and Mt Everest without supplementary oxygen in 2005, Edwin has won numerous awards such as the Singapore Excellence Award as a member of the First Singapore Everest Team, National Youth Award and the People’s Association Excellence Award.
