You will be responsible for providing casework and counselling to help patients cope better with the implications of their illnesses. You will work closely with other healthcare professionals to enhance their understanding of the impact these illnesses have on patients’ psychosocial and emotional health aspects. Good networking and strong communication skills are essential as you will need to mobilise a wide range of community resources to assist the patients and their families. There will be opportunities for training, research activities, supervision of social work undergraduates, projects and group work. You will also support the Ministry of Health in providing psychological first aid to patients who are victims of civil disasters or a national emergency.

 

Requirements:

  • Degree in Social Work from an accredited university, preferably with at least 2 years' work experience in a healthcare environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Good team player                                                                              
  • Documented proof of:
  • Measles (or Mumps, Measles and Rubella) vaccination or serological evidence of measles immunity; and
  • Diphtheria (Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis) vaccination taken during preceding 10 years at prevailing point of reference as required for all healthcare workers under the Healthcare Services Act. Applicants without these vaccinations are welcome to apply if they undertake to complete the vaccination(s) before work commencement
