Manager, Network and Strategy
$6,500 – $7,500 per month
The Network Strategy Manager will assist and support the Network Planning VP in managing and overseeing all services, for the achievement of service network optimization. The Manager will be tasked to study current services with internal stakeholders to improve the network structure and study new projects that can complement the company’s growth.
Responsibilities:
- Assist Network Planning VP to develop an overall network plan, detailing how the network is set up to achieve company long term strategic aims. The plan will encompass coverage, allocation by markets, number of loops, rotations, ships to be used (size and design), vessel cascading plan, partners to work with, potential slot exchanges or slot sale.
- The Network Strategy Manager is to ensure the operational feasibility of a proforma. Proposals to right-size ships, eliminate or add legs and streamline port move counts to align with prevailing market conditions are to be raised for review. Actions emerging from these discussions could include proforma changes (sailing speed, port, move count), ship upsize / downsize / design changes.
- The Network Strategy Manager is to develop Network plans and studies in developing new markets and other related issues under his/her respective scope. This will also comprise reviewing swap packages with partners to expand service coverage or cost savings purposes.
- To monitor changes in the competitor landscape to ensure that overall services network under his/her purview remains competitive and able to keep up with the prevailing market conditions. The Network Strategy Manager is also expected to remain abreast of commercial developments within the industry, which includes, competitor pricing, service and utilization behavior.
Requirements:
- A minimum of 6 years of liner experience with understanding of ship operations, network design and yield optimization principles is preferred
- Profit-minded individual with strong business acumen that enables him/her as an independent worker to manage tactical yield at an optimal level
- Strong intellect and analytical skills that enables the incumbent to understand and optimize complex and interlinked rotations
- Effective as an internal and external marketing person to design, promote and sell the service products to the various internal and external customers
- Strong inter-personal skills and good team player who can work with people of diverse cultural backgrounds
