Resident Technical Officer
1. GENERAL
a. Assist the Chief Resident Architect in carrying out supervision works on site and also assist in supervising & co-ordination with other Resident Technical Officer at site.
b. Quality control of all civil, structural and architectural works.
c. Keep and maintain daily site record on progress of works, instructions given to Contractors, materials delivered to site, daily activities and weather conditions at site, number and visitors at site and any other significant information.
d. Supervise and keep records of day works.
e. Attend site/coordination meetings as directed.
f. To carry site supervision and inspection of the works including any off-site manufacturing as instructed by the Architect so as to ensure that works are constructed to required quality and accuracy.
g. To monitor progress of the works on site and at any off-site manufacturing facilities and report delays immediately.
h. To provide standing supervision as and when required by Contractors and/or directed by the Architect.
i. To maintain proper and updated daily records of all works done, including records of tests, inspections, status of work, safety, site diary, material and equipment on site, labour, dayworks, provisional quantities, etc.
j. To check that Contractor executes preliminaries items.
k. To check service routes and Contractor’s setting out and report any deviations to the Architect.
l. To verify reports and claims submitted by Contractors.
m. To record all variations as instructed or approved by Architect.
n. To attend to Contractor’s queries and coordinate works of main Contractor and direct Contractors/Suppliers at site.
o. To inspect and take over completed works.
p. To undertake any other duties related to the project as and when instructed by the Architect.
q. Check drawings and documents and report discrepancies.
r. Report on site safety, security and housekeeping.
s. Compile BSL Quarterly Report.
2. TECHNICAL
a. To carry out site supervision and inspection of the works including any off-site manufacturing as instructed by the Consultant Team so as to ensure that works are constructed to required quality and accuracy; in accordance to the Consultants’ Specifications.
b. To monitor progress of the works on site and at any off-site manufacturing facilities and report delays immediately.
c. To ensure that all submissions by the Main Contractor are in proper order.
d. To provide standing supervision as and when directed by the Consultant Team / CRA / SRAs / RAs.
e. To maintain proper and updated daily records of all works done, including records of tests, inspections, status of work, safety, site diary, material and equipment on site, labour, dayworks, provisional quantities, etc.
f. To co-ordinate with the Contractor’s Safety Officer and ensure that site safety is properly executed by the Contractor at all times.
g. To safeguard and keep proper record of all approved samples submitted.
h. To check and ensure that the Contractor executes Preliminaries items.
i. To check service routes and Contractor’s setting out of works. Should there be any deviations / discrepancies noted, you are expected to highlight to the CRA / SRAs / RAs and Consultant Team immediately.
j. To verify reports and claims submitted by Contractors and ensure proper documentation of project correspondences on site.
k. To inspect works carried out at critical stages leading to their completion and the completed works.
l. To conduct and record defects inspections and ensure proper execution of rectification works
m. To undertake any other duties related to the project as and when instructed by the Consultant Team and CRA / SRAs / RAs.
n. Assist the Resident Architects’ in carrying out all duties
o. Inspects Contractor works, to include material storage, sequence of works and protection to finished works.
p. Endorses inspection forms and ensure proper record and filing.
q. Monitors progress of works and highlight any delay in advance.
r. Standing supervision of structural works
s. Co-ordination of structural and Architectural and interior works Ensure cleaning up of site for inspection through the Main Contractor.
t. Verify that all constructed works are in accordance with approved authorities drawings prior to any authorities inspection.
u. Ensure compliance with widths of all escape routes, stairs, handrails and doors.
v. Ensure compliance to handicapped requirements.
w. Assist Consultants to organise formal inspections.
x. Ensure that all comments / non-conformance by authority departments are replied too and rectified within two weeks of Written Direction.
