Senior Research & Development Manager
Job Responsibility:
Responsible for planning and executing the long-term R&D and business strategy for IHI business in the field of Advanced Manufacturing (mainly focusing on the area of Smart Factory and Factory Automation for Aircraft Engine parts production and repair):
- Project Management – Able to track and direct project schedules to ensure deliverables are met in a timely manner, by effective allocation of budgetary/manpower resources and time.
- Seeding new R&D projects which can contribute to both IHI Group factories and potential customers’ factories. – Develop technology and business roadmaps in consultation with our stakeholders, and utilizing external networks to initiate new collaborations in smart factory and supply chain space utilizing the technologies of advanced manufacturing, advanced re-manufacturing and automated inspection.
- R&D Exit Strategy/ Commercialization – Work with Marketing division to realize the commercialization of R&D and new business formation.
- Collaboration/Networking with Singapore partners (eg. A*STAR ARTC), government agencies (eg. EDB) and SMEs. – Nurture strategic relationships to secure funding and win-win collaborations.
Requirements:
- Relevant working experience and knowledge related to Manufacturing industry is required
- Minimum 10 years in Technology Development related activities – in Factory Automation Solutions.
- Development of machining processes (e.g. 5-axis machining of aircraft engine parts, repair machining of aircraft engine blade parts with adaptive machining, etc.)
- Design of rotating parts for aircraft engine parts (e.g. structural and strength analysis of 10,000 rpm high-speed rotating parts, etc.)
- Analysis, optimization and automation of aircraft engine parts production and repair processes.
- Business level Japanese (JLPT N1 or equivalent) in reading, writing and communication are required to liaise closely and collaborate with members working in Japan Headquarter R&D Division for business/product development related activities
- Proficient in Microsoft-Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
