Company Profile

NANYTE Pte. Ltd. is a Singapore-based deep-tech company that designs and manufactures precision instruments for the semiconductor, photonics, and advanced-manufacturing world. Our flagship product, NANYTE BEAM, is a compact maskless lithography system — think of it as a desktop-scale machine that "prints" microscopic patterns down to sub-micron features, used by universities, national labs, and R&D teams in over 50 locations worldwide. Alongside BEAM we build lens printers, magneto-optical microscopes, and industrial autofocus modules.

We are a small, hands-on engineering team where interns work directly with the founder and senior engineers — not fetch coffee. If you like taking machines apart, understanding how they tick, and building things that actually get shipped to customers, you'll fit right in.

Industry: Precision instruments / semiconductor equipment

Location: 126 Joo Seng Rd. Moving to a new premise at 1 MacTaggart Road in Q3.

Job Description

We're looking for a hands-on Process Engineering Intern to help us turn how we build our machines into repeatable, documented, quality-controlled processes — and to run experiments on our own lithography tools to characterize and improve what they can do.

What you'll do:

  1. Develop and document assembly, alignment, and calibration procedures (SOPs) for our precision instruments — turning "how the senior engineer does it" into a process anyone on the team can follow.
  2. Run process characterization experiments on our BEAM lithography systems — resist coating, exposure dose, development, and pattern-transfer steps — and analyze the results.
  3. Measure and inspect output (feature size, resolution, uniformity, defects) using microscopy and metrology tools, and turn the data into actionable findings.
  4. Track down sources of process variation and defects, and propose fixes to improve yield, repeatability, and throughput.
  5. Support production: build/QC checklists, acceptance testing, and root-cause analysis when a unit doesn't meet spec.
  6. Feed what you learn back to the design team (design-for-manufacturability / design-for-assembly).

What we're looking for:

  1. Currently pursuing a diploma or degree in Process / Chemical / Materials / Mechanical Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related field.
  2. Enjoys hands-on lab and cleanroom-style work, and cares about doing things precisely and repeatably.
  3. Comfortable with data — recording experiments carefully, spreadsheets/basic stats, and drawing conclusions from measurements.
  4. Exposure to any of the following is a plus (none are must-haves): photolithography, thin films, microscopy/metrology, resist processing, semiconductor/MEMS fabrication, or optics.
  5. Methodical, curious, and self-driven — the kind of person who wants to know why a process drifted, not just that it did.

What you'll get:

  1. Real ownership of a process from experiment to documented, production-ready procedure.
  2. Hands-on time on commercial semiconductor lithography equipment — rare exposure for an undergrad.
  3. Direct mentorship from practicing engineers building precision instruments end-to-end.
