Buyer (Short-Term Contract)

Job Summary

The Buyer is responsible for developing, managing, and strengthening our key customer-supplier base and supply chain network to support customer requirements in Malaysia.

This is a short-term contract position with the potential for conversion to a permanent role, subject to business needs and individual performance upon completion of the contract.

Duties & Responsibilities

·        Support the development and execution of sourcing and buying activities

·        Lead supplier identification / selection / segmentation process

·        Build and maintain a strong working knowledge of industry practices/capabilities and market intelligence that captures expertise / best practices and leverages the expertise to deliver incremental cost reduction and drive significant client business value

·        Ensure a competitive sourcing environment leading to continuous improvement, analyse market drivers, cost structures and support supplier initiatives, including annual cost reductions

·        Deliver cost reduction goals and provide strong support to the stakeholders

· Develop category management strategies

·        Ad-hoc duties as assigned

·        Ensure full compliance with the customer's Health & Safety and Corporate Governance

Job Holder’s Specifications (Must Have)

·        Possess at least a Diploma/Degree in any discipline, preferably in Supply Chain, Business Administration, International Trade & Business 

·        Proven experience with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in sourcing and/or procurement roles, preferably in the Food & Beverage industry 

·        Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) and SAP (Must have)

·        Strong negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with both internal and external stakeholders

·        A team player with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn and grow

·        Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet deadlines and achieve targets

·        Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
