Mechanical Engineering Intern

Nanyte Pte Ltdnanyte.com

We're looking for a hands-on Mechanical Engineering Intern to work on hardware projects and turning published designs, BOMs, and documentation into working physical builds on our bench.

What you'll do:

  • Research and follow promising open-source machine projects (motion systems, 3D printers, CNC/positioning rigs, optical/mechatronic builds, etc.) and evaluate them for our use.
  • Recreate these machines from open-source documentation — sourcing parts, reading through BOMs and assembly guides, and building the hardware yourself.
  • 3D-model and modify parts in CAD (SolidWorks or similar), and 3D-print / fabricate custom components where the original design needs adapting.
  • Assemble mechanical and electromechanical systems: frames, linear stages, motors, drivers, and wiring.
  • Bring up and test builds — troubleshoot mechanical, motion, and integration issues, and document what worked and what didn't.
  • Keep clear build notes and documentation so the work is reproducible by the team.

What we're looking for:

  • Currently pursuing a diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
  • Genuinely enjoys building things with your hands — a personal maker/DIY/robotics/FYP portfolio is a big plus.
  • Comfortable reading technical documentation and open-source project repositories (GitHub, forums, wikis).
  • Working knowledge of SolidWorks and 3D printing.
  • Basic electronics / wiring / microcontroller familiarity (Arduino, ESP32, stepper drivers) is a bonus, not a must.
  • Self-driven, resourceful, and not afraid to troubleshoot when a build doesn't work the first time.

What you'll get:

  • Real ownership of a project from research to a working machine.
  • Direct mentorship from practicing engineers building commercial precision equipment.
  • Exposure to how a real deep-tech product company operates end-to-end.
