Head, DevOps & SRE
About the role
You will lead DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) for one or more product lines, with the scope to expand across the group depending on your experience.
Our DevOps engineers are embedded within individual product teams. You will provide professional leadership across these engineers, setting technical direction and driving consistent standards in how systems are delivered, operated, and continuously improved.
Working alongside our Group Infrastructure Lead, who oversees group-wide infrastructure initiatives, shared platforms, and engineering standards, you will translate these foundations into reliable, scalable production operations across our product lines.
Key responsibilities
Own release engineering, CI/CD pipelines, on-call practices, and incident management for the product lines under your remit.
Lead and develop embedded DevOps engineers through day-to-day work allocation, technical guidance, coaching, and performance feedback within a matrix reporting structure.
Act as the primary DevOps partner to product, backend, and engineering leads, aligning priorities, setting expectations, and challenging decisions when reliability or engineering standards are at risk.
Drive production reliability through service-level objectives (SLOs), observability, capacity planning, post-incident reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Oversee cloud resource utilisation and cost efficiency across your product lines.
Partner with Group Infrastructure to adopt shared platforms and engineering standards, while identifying and communicating product-specific requirements.
Support security and compliance initiatives from a DevOps perspective, including PCI DSS requirements and licensing-related technical reviews.
About you
10+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or production operations, including at least 3 years of experience leading teams of 5–15 engineers.
A hands-on approach to leadership, with the ability to build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, troubleshoot production issues, and lead incident response when needed.
Proven ability to lead and influence engineers in a matrix structure, including those who do not report directly to you, and to work effectively with senior stakeholders.
Strong technical expertise in AWS (including multi-account environments), Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and observability tooling.
A track record of taking systems from pre-launch through production stabilisation and into reliable, well-managed operations.
Nice to have
Experience in exchanges, brokerages, trading platforms, payments, or other fintech environments.
Exposure to PCI DSS compliance or regulatory technology reviews.
Experience with cross-border networking, multi-region deployments, or connectivity requirements involving mainland China.
Demonstrated results in FinOps, cloud cost optimisation, or cloud cost governance.
Experience supporting multiple product lines or business units in parallel.
