DevOps Specialist
About the role
The CI/CD & Quality Specialist designs, builds and operates CI/CD pipelines on DevOps for a team that currently merges and deploys manually, and leads the team's adoption of them. The role also owns quality assurance, covering regression testing and release quality gates, and builds foundational pipeline security gates such as secret and dependency scanning, controlled approvals and audit evidence.
Key responsibilities
Design and build CI/CD pipelines from scratch, covering build, test, release, and deployment stages.
Lead migration of the team away from manual code merge and manual deployment to an automated, auditable pipeline.
Propose pipeline architecture and branching strategy suited to the team's current project structure.
Drive hands-on adoption: train engineers, run pairing/working sessions, and troubleshoot resistance or workflow gaps during rollout.
Monitor pipeline performance post-adoption, deployment health and continuously resolve operational issues.
Investigate deployment failures and operational incidents; conduct root cause analysis and implement preventive measures.
Standardize CI/CD and QA practices across projects as adoption matures.
Develop and maintain operational runbooks, SOPs, and technical documentation for CI/CD pipelines and release processes.
Enforce controlled approvals within the pipeline, ensuring that releases to Staging and Production go through the required review and approval processes.
Develop and execute automated tests for new and existing applications and configuration changes, in accordance with established standards.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
3+ years of experience in DevOps, CI/CD operations, or application support - including at least one greenfield pipeline build
Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps; familiarity with GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or GitLab CI/CD is a plus.
Hands-on experience with Git / source control systems.
Hands-on experience with PowerShell, Bash, or Python scripting.
Experience designing test cases, running regression testing, or building QA processes
Demonstrated ability to drive process adoption with a team unfamiliar with CI/CD/automated testing.
Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep, ARM).
Exposure to AI-powered DevOps, AIOps, or Generative AI tooling.
Exposure to AI-assisted DevOps tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, AI-assisted testing platforms) is a plus.
