SEEK, Jobstreet and Jobsdb unify marketplace platforms, transforming APAC employment landscape
The merger of the three platforms comes a decade after SEEK acquired Asia’s leading online employment marketplaces, Jobstreet and Jobsdb
Powered by parent company SEEK's world-class artificial intelligence (AI) technology, employers can now tap into an expanded talent pool of over 40 million people, while talent can access more career opportunities across eight APAC markets.
SINGAPORE, 29 February 2023 – SEEK (ASX:SEK) has successfully merged its Asia Pacific employment marketplaces – SEEK, Jobstreet and Jobsdb – which will operate under a single platform powered by SEEK’s world-class AI technology, while retaining the individual brands. This integration brings together millions of jobseekers and employers across APAC to connect more of the right people with the right work.
SEEK’s unification of its employment marketplaces comes 10 years after it acquired Jobstreet and Jobsdb, and follows three years of development and an estimated AUD$180 million investment.
Proving greater access to talent and jobs across Singapore & APAC
As global talent shortages reach a 16-year high, Singapore saw 83% of employers reporting difficulties in hiring skilled talent they need.
Jobstreet by SEEK’s latest Hiring, Compensation and Benefits 2024 Report, which surveyed companies in Singapore, also found that:
45% of employers surveyed expressed confidence in the job market in the first half of 2024, however there was a noticeable decline to 32% for the second half of 2024.
49% of employers were keen on increasing their permanent headcount and around 33% of employers also plan on increasing their contract staff for the first half of 2024. Reasons cited included business expansion (54%) and difficulty in recruiting suitable full time staff (34%).
This indicates a growing need for employers to connect more effectively with talent across both Singapore and APAC. To address this gap, employers can now tap into a wider talent pool of over 40 million people across eight APAC markets, and talent can access more job opportunities from over 2.5 million employers – including more remote working opportunities. This aligns with Jobstreet’s data, which shows that “work from home” has consistently been one of the top 12 keywords that talents search for in the past two years. SEEK’s new features can help employers solve these challenges in the upcoming year, and to better plan for their future workforce.
Delivering relevant matches and personalised experiences
The unified marketplace brings forth new AI-powered advancements to the Jobstreet and Jobsdb platforms in Asia, aimed at enhancing the employment experience for both employers and job seekers throughout the region.
For employers, the new platform deploys AI models to assess talent suitability and provide highly personalised recommendations by processing data from various sources, including resumes, job ad descriptions and the employer’s past behaviours. This allows employers to hire fast and right. Employers can also expedite the talent shortlist process by adding AI-recommended screening questions in their job ads.
To make the job-hunting process more efficient and relevant for talent, they can now be better matched to AI-recommended jobs they are most qualified for based on their experience and skills. Using AI, SEEK also predicts when a person is likely a strong candidate for a role by showing a top applicant badge, so talent can make more informed decisions whether to apply for a role.
Following the unification program, SEEK can now harness a larger dataset across APAC, which will empower its AI algorithms to provide even more precise and relevant matches between employers and talent. Ultimately, this translates into an elevated user experience and expedites the hiring process on its Jobstreet and Jobsdb platforms.
