Being able to work from home certainly sounds like a dream come true. No more sitting in rush hour traffic, spending hours commuting to and from work each day, getting dragged into impromptu meetings throughout the day, fending off endless distractions at the office to get some actual work done.
A study by PGi, a leading global provider of collaboration software and services, revealed that in addition to improved productivity, 82% of telecommuters reported lower stress levels, 80% experienced higher morale, while 69% reported lower absenteeism. The benefits of remote working are clear for both employer and employee, but it's important to note that not everyone is cut out to work from home.
So before you pitch the idea to your boss, it would be prudent to first establish whether you have the right temperament for remote working.
