Do you still dream of becoming a digital nomad? The COVID-19 crisis changed how and where people want to work. Singaporeans, for instance, are now less willing to move to a different country. According to the latest Decoding Global Talent report, from 70% in 2018, only 44% said they were still interested in leaving Singapore for career opportunities.
Fortunately, as work-from-home becomes the norm worldwide, working for a dream company abroad is still possible without having to uproot yourself. Singapore remains a globally attractive city for the workforce around the world, and the internet allows you to expand its borders.
In fact, the Decoding Global Talent Report by Jobstreet, Boston Consulting Group, and The Network shows that managing a global workforce is becoming the norm for many companies. According to the report, 51% of Singaporeans said that they are willing to work for a remote employer--close to the global average of 57%.
Working in a globally distributed team has its clear benefits: you gain the opportunity to learn from a diverse group and widen your worldview without leaving the comforts of your homebase. That said, it does pose its set of logistical and cultural challenges, so it's best to be prepared.
The Decoding Global Talent Report details how the Singaporean workforce is evolving, and how and where today's talents want to grow their careers. Download the rest of the report here to learn more about how you can join the global workplace of today.
