What's it like to be a Human Resources Administrator?
A Human Resources (HR) Administrator is at the hub of a company's operations, looking after an organisation's staff. Key responsibilities include maintaining employee records, aiding with the hiring process, doing paperwork for onboarding new employees and assisting with payroll processing. Their duties span across areas like employment law, compensation, employee relations and training. HR Administrators work in virtually all sectors, both public and private, from multinational corporations to small businesses, as employees are key to any organisation. They need to have excellent communication skills, in addition to organisational and multitasking abilities.
Tasks and duties
- Handling recruitment processes which may include organising interviews and recruitment campaigns.
- Maintaining employee records to ensure that information is accurate and up to date.
- Coordinating employee orientation and training sessions, helping new employees integrate into a company.
- Supporting the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
- Managing queries and issues from employees regarding benefits, policies or procedures.
- Assisting with payroll by providing the department with relevant employee information like absences and bonus amounts.
- Providing administrative support to senior HR professionals, including scheduling meetings, preparing presentations and reports.
