What's it like to be a Logistics Officer?
Logistics Officers conduct the end-to-end operations of a supply chain. They liaise with vendors and suppliers for raw materials to be brought to the warehouse, the processes in a warehouse, and the delivery of packaged goods to clients and customers. Organisation, interpersonal and problem-solving are key skills for the role. Logistics Officers work in supply chains, warehouses, and transport facilities.
Tasks and duties
- Managing inventory and warehouse equipment.
- Negotiating with vendors and clients on budgets and deadlines.
- Overseeing the production of goods to meet timelines and standards.
- Coordinating processes with all departments and point persons involved.
- Creating reports and analyses for reporting to management.
- Optimising transportation and delivery processes.
- Managing conflicts such as equipment malfunction, bottlenecks, and client complaints.
How to become a Logistics Officer
A bachelor degree and experience in logistics and supply chain are required to work as a Logistics Officer. Although Logistics Officers may be an entry-level job in some companies, it may be an advantage to be familiar with the warehouse environment.
