What's it like to be a Manufacturing Technician?
A Manufacturing Technician is responsible for assembling and creating various products in a manufacturing setting. They complete assigned manufacturing and assembly tasks, inspect finished products for quality, and operate machinery and tools as necessary. Manufacturing Technicians also perform minor equipment repairs and maintenance, maintain equipment use and care logs and reports, and work towards achieving efficiency and productivity goals.

How to become a Manufacturing Technician
To work as a Manufacturing Technician, you usually need to hold at least a NITEC (National ITE Certificate) or diploma in mechanics, electronics, or any engineering-related field.
Possess the minimum educational requirements. Companies will typically look for candidates with at least a NITEC (National ITE Certificate) or diploma in mechanics, electronics, or any engineering-related field.
Acquire expertise in essential tools and software. Depending on your line of work, this may involve using diagnostic machinery, 3D printers, CAD/CAM systems, or other specific devices.
Consider additional certifications that may be required or other skills you can build. Forklift Safety and Inspector or Certified Manufacturing Specialist are examples of certifications you may obtain.
Complete higher education, such as an engineering degree, that can widen your career options and become eligible for senior roles like Facilities Engineer or Process Engineer.
