    Art Teacher

Central Region1 to 2 years in the role, former employee
It’s a great opportunity to make a real impact on kids' lives while developing your own skills.
The good thingsHonestly, working at Artary has been one of the most fulfilling jobs I've had so far. It's so much more than just teaching—it's about creating a space where kids feel comfortable being themselves and making a mess. I've learned so much here, not just about art, but about how to really connect with children and manage a classroom in a way that’s both fun and productive. The supportive community of other teachers and staff has been a huge part of that; they genuinely want you to succeed and are always there to help.
The challengesThe main challenge is definitely the pace. During busy seasons, it feels like there's always something to do, from class prep to managing student portfolios. Sometimes it can be hard to switch off, but the work itself is so engaging that the time flies by. The management team is pretty understanding about it, and they always make sure we get a chance to unwind and recharge.

    Needs better management
The good thingsBeing able to teach students, forming rapport and understanding them. Showing them art techniques and shortcuts.
The challengesThe management, lack of communication. No empathy, needs to be professional and fair towards their freelance art teachers. Heavy penalties/fine for lateness.

    Poor welfare and bad management
The good thingsgreat colleagues depending on which campus you're in. Flexible working hours but no break during weekends especially if there are back to back classes.
The challengesToo many fines. Bosses don't care about your existence in the company and only have this mindset where the clients/ customer is right. Unreasonable workload.

Barely any time to breathe; Mentally exhausting
The good things-Fellow staff understand the stress and intensity of the work and are generally friendly. -Teaching and caring for children is also fun, provided they are keen to listen and learn. -More or less flexible schedule.
The challenges-The assignments you pick can be changed without notice. -There isn't much time to prepare for the next class after dismissal of the previous. -Parents can be late when picking their children up, thus eating into your class time or break. -Sometimes you don't have time for a break at all. -Customer is always right. -Micro-management. -Heavy penalties for lateness, failure to show, damage to students' works, etc.

Great working environment and fun colleagues
The good thingsThere's strict rules to adhere to, but I personally feel that the rules are implemented to maintain a high level of discipline amongst the teaching staff and that to me is integral. My colleagues are also very supportive and always helpful, making me enjoy this job so so so so much.
The challengesSome people may find the rules too restrictive but to each his own I personally feel.
