Good exposure to international brands + fun creative projects
The good thingsCareer progression saw me rise from graphic designer to creative manager. Furthermore, in design work, I was exposed to working with big international brands from the US, Japan and UK that helped me grow as a creative professional. Fun/memorable moments working on creative campaigns with colleagues; be it for kids, young adult, on matured product lines
The challengesTurnaround time can in some instances be tight, but fulfilling when you accomplish these goals.

CONVENIENT OFFICE LOCATION, LOYAL BOSSES & GOOD CULTURE
The good thingsMost remarkable thing was zero lay-offs during COVID-19 outbreak/disruption. Management worked hard to keep us all on payroll + upskill. Other perks: (1) convenient office location - walking distance from Tai Seng MRT. (2) nice & modern office environment with good food nearby (3) Friendly colleagues who worked there for many year. (4) Decent salary with performance-based increment should you make the effort.
The challenges(1) All hands on deck during peak period. (2) Need to be firm in managing staff while being approachable and offer listening ear. (3) Need to upskill and adopt collaborative mindset to contribute for company's digital projects

    Good Horizontal Career Progression
The good thingsCareer progression as started as a graphic designer but had the opportunity to request to move into e-commerce. Incentives for hitting e-commerce sales targets.
The challengesTeam support is available but must be able to work independently. Sometimes, digital campaigns may require a bit of OT.

    Nice Colleagues - Average Managers
The good thingsSupportive team as e-commerce and digital marketing operate as integrated functions. Gives better annual leave than other gift companies. Will learn new skills that help you in your long term career journey
The challengesMiddle managers are decent people who you get along with. BUT need to provide more guidance to new staff.

    Assistant Manager, Retail Operations

    Strong Training in Retail Operations
The good thingsAfter graduation, started out as a "Management Executive" and was eventually promoted to "Assistant Manager for Retail Operations". Gained invaluable experience in many areas, from visual merchandising to store operations and sales & promo strategies. Management is open to new ideas, which made me feel this is an inclusive company that innovates. I have since left the company, but it was a privilege to have worked here for 5 years.
The challengesIt is essential to be able to multi-task and grow outside your comfort zone, as the company is set up in terms of cross-functional teams. During peak periods work can be a bit on the stressful side but the up-side is you are not doing it alone but as a team.

Left the company but still all good memories
The good thingsGrateful that I got my first big break-through whereby promoted from retail operations to a corporate managerial position. Through perseverance, I was valued for my experience, and rised up the ranks. Management also sent me for up-skilling and sponsored my diploma course, which helped me along the way. Made many good friends there over the last 10 years.
The challengesI was not used to giving presentations, at first, but improved over time and built confidence. Transition for digital, e-commerce and social media stuff was abit steep for older staff however there was at least guidance for us to warm up.

    Interesting Creative Work & Exposure
The good thingsFor designers and creatives - great spectrum of brands and creative work, from designing to brand curation to developing campaigns and photoshoots. Although management is not totally laissez faire, at least does not micro-manage. Overall, a good mix of young and experienced staff.
The challengesOccasionally, some colleagues are uncooperative and don't fit into the culture; however, management has been getting more involved in addressing the matter.

    Interesting Work but Deadline Focused
The good thingsAs a graphic designer I had the chance on many international brands in the company's porfolio, including the development of in house brands and other creative assets. Salary was decent for the gift and retail industry - in fact, I received a pay raise twice, having led major brand activation projects.
The challengesDeadlines could be a little challenging for some projects. Colleagues are fun and good natured, but some need to take their work more seriously.

    Good Overseas Experience, Education Sponsorship
The good thingsChance to travel overseas for work - so far, Australia Hong Kong, Malaysia, Taiwan and China although cut down during COVID-19 Stable employment - given a straight offer without having to a contract-job route - something I valued since I'm raising a family. Education & training - received partial sponsorship to fulfil my dream of earning a Degree Management is quite professional in how it handles things, yet loyal, approachable and understanding even for personal and family issues.
The challengesFor business development roles, there is a strong need for accountability - so not for those who are looking to just coast and chill. In that sense, you have to be someone who keeps your eyes on the ball. But not over the top in terms of work load.

    Fun Projects & Great Colleagues
The good thingsThe variety of projects I got to worked on was a great stepping stone to learn about e-commerce, brand management, and business development. Acceptable starting salary for fresh grads & decent working hours. Made great friends who started out as colleagues. A few of the older managers even have a 'mother-like' style of taking care of us - which was a nice human touch.
The challengesInitially, it was a little bit challenging trying to connect with some of the older managers, but this improved over time as the company hired more new managers with a fresh outlook. Once or twice a year, there are crunch times with tight deadlines. However, it is manageble as you work in a team.

The challengesConstant short deadlines, indecisive deadlines Mental stability must be prepare.
