Working in a volunteer associationThe good thingsThe energy of dedicated staff, the positive effect that your work can make on the patients, being creative with little to no budget. Opportunity to try other skills as there is a shortage of staff to fill up the positions. Feeling good as you are about to meet patients, caretakers and help them manage difficult situations.
The challengesManagement is made of people based on seniority but not useful experience or expertise. Due to that new ideas from below are not encouraged and thus creativity in the upper fields such as events, public presentations, media is stifled. It put the executive staff at a position of do or go. This in the end creates an environment of cliques and groups which do not concentrate on improving.
