Great have met a few friends
The good thingsDSO treat their employees quite well as they would provide lunch/dinner bento during the peak of Covid 19 and to make sure we have lesser contact with the public. They also provide shuttle bus for us during those times.
The challengesI feel they can do better in their management by having one person rule rather than having 2 or more opinions and confuse the team during operation.

The challengesThere is no challenges working here. Everyday doing the same things and month by month more task will given to you without any manpower to assist you. Colleague did not help up even if you are extremely busy and there is no overtime pay even you work till 9pm. And there are lots of politics.

Great place that does extraordinary stuffs
The good thingsGreat place that allows creativity and ample opportunity for growth and to learn new things.
The challengesOther than more red tapes because of the secret nature of works, most challenges are also present in other companies.

    Conducive Learning Environment
The good thingsDSO National Laboratories places a lot of emphasis on staff development and provides conducive environment for growth. It values its people, and is an excellent organisation for engineers or scientists who are seeking an exciting and rewarding career.
The challengesThe learning curve can be steep, but this is a common challenge no matter where you are working at. As long as one has the willingness to learn, this challenge can definitely be overcome!

    Meaningful
The good thingsEverything here is transparent. Like how you going to progress during your career in the company is listed out nicely and clearly. It also gives you opportunities to try out new things that you do not learn in school. Colleagues in office are great and are willing to help when you need help be it is at work or just adapting into the environment. Every new employee will be tagged a buddy and he or she will be around guiding the new staff whenever needed during his or her first days of work.
The challengesAs we know its a research organization thus we are not allowed to bring in camera enabled devices into our offices or labs. However its okay as they have programs that helps you disable your camera temporarily when you are in office and you can just enable it when you are out of office. Other than that there are not much of food choices around the vicinity.

    Good working culture
The good thingsThe culture is something that is commendable. HR has put in place many policies that allow feedback for bosses and also for comments on working environment. There is also job rotation which allows an employee to switch job roles for trial in case of being bored with a specific role. This creates better job retention.
The challengesThere is a lot of red tape due to security which is attributed to the nature of the job. Be prepared to have non-camera handphones or to have some software installed which disables cameras. Another thing would be that projects are inevitably long. There may not be very good job exposure due to this.

Job stability & good company to work for, but not to carve out a career in if you're not a researcher/engineer
The good thingsWorklife balance, minimal politics, get along very well with colleagues, truly family-oriented corporate culture, job stability
The challengesLack of trust in the technical expertise of the people & management believes they know better how to do the job of the expert. Change of department focus & priorities, which no longer aligns with career expertise
