The challenges-Shortage of drafters but company refuses to hire. Some drafters are chronically underperforming, but management doesn't bother to address the issue. As a result junior engineers spend a lot of time correcting careless mistakes, or even doing drafting themselves. Your bachelor's degree won't be required. The whole company talk about achieving 'zero defect' processes is just hilarious.
-Junior engineers are always made the scapegoats for mistakes/missed deadlines. Even if the drafters create problems, or the reviewers/approvers make mistakes, it is the junior engineer who takes the blame. Even if this miraculously isn't the case, he will have to clean up the mess.
-Because of the above 2 reasons, many good engineers have left. The remainder are overloaded with more work with tighter deadlines, because you guessed it, company refuses to hire. Shockingly, management refuses to acknowledge that engineers are being milked. They think workload is low and job is easy. You may be working twice as fast, and doing 2 people's jobs (see 1st point above), but still be labelled inefficient. The 'soft skills' core value that managers harp on can only be described as a joke.
In summary, don't join as a fresh grad/junior engineer.
