Great People, Good ExposireThe good thingsEmployers gave many overseas opportunities to explore how the mother organisation works with local partners, including staying on-the-ground in a cross-cultural context for several weeks. Employees were well taken care of by the organisation and staff genuinely care for one another both in terms of work and in terms of personal lives. Had a great time getting to know many of the older employees and learned much from them.
The challengesEmployees sometimes know of events close to their occurrence rather than beforehand. Strong hierarchical culture. Weak corporate communications. Some employees simultaneously handle many large portfolios. Relies heavily on volunteers and requires delicate people-managing.
