    Enoyable and rewarding
The good thingsI have worked at H P Construction & Engineering for around 8 years, and I can honestly say that it has been the best 8 years of my career. I started out as a regular employee, but over the last 8 years I progressed through the ranks thanks to the company's commitment to employee development. I was given opportunities to learn new skills and take on more responsibility, and I was always supported by my managers and colleagues. Today, I hold an important role in HP's organization, and I am grateful for the recognition that I have received. I am also grateful for the support of the management team and board of directors, who have always been there for me, both professionally and personally. One of the things that I love most about HP is the company culture. Everyone is treated with respect, and there is a strong sense of teamwork. We all work together to achieve common goals, and we are always willing to help each other out. I am also proud of the fact that none of us were "retrenched" or have received any pay-cut during the toughest time during COVID-19. This shows that the company cares about its employees, and it is one of the reasons why I am so happy to work here. If you are looking for a company that is committed to employee development, a strong company culture, and treating its employees with respect, then I highly recommend H P Construction & Engineering. I do not wish to provide my job title at this time, as I am still working at the company. However, I would like to thank the management team and board of directors for their recognition. I am grateful for the opportunities that I have been given, and I am proud to be a part of the HP family.

The challengesPersonally, I noticed some colleagues just prefer monetary rewards and thus it may be challenging for the company to organize such events.

    Equipment Well Provided For Staffs
The good thingsWell provided for site staffs and any HQ staffs that has a need to go sites. For example, HPCE uniform, helmet, safety boots, water shoes, and plenty of other essential items needed for works are being indented for staffs.
The challengesOverall, company has very strict rules to follow. For example, all have to follow simple and basic things such as working hours, and even down to very little things such as printer usages.

    Positive working environment
The good thingsHP's management team is reliable - always pushing the boundaries and driving the company to new heights. HP has a strong culture of teamwork. HP truly value their employees and support for a working environment filled with respect and support.
The challengesReports have to be clear & concise, monetary calculation is to be counted down to the final cents. All extra expenses spent must be backed up with concrete evidence and reasons. This may sometimes lead to tedious reports but overall it is still the correct implementation if we look from management's point of view.

    Healthy workplace environment, supportive HQ
The good thingsColleagues in HP are well bonded with overseas bonding trips (pre-covid times). The management hierarchy is well maintained, from Top Management level down to site supervisors. Clear company rules and SOPs are in place for everyone to adhere to. KPI is not based on how long we OT after working hours, which can be unhealthy in other working environments. Annual D&D for all staffs & workers with hundreds of lucky draw prizes to be won, the company ensures that at least 70% of attendance has a prize to walk away with. Generous long service awards, best worker awards etc. Loyalty to the company is well appreciated by HP’s Top Management. The Management also does career planning for everyone of us.
The challengesPunctuality is key for HP’s management and consecutive poor attendance will not be tolerated. Respective trade managers, SM & PM must be well prepared for each and every meeting be it big or small discussions.

    Site Staff
The good thingsOverseas bonding trips (to promote espirit de corps among employees)
The challengesPlenty of internal meetings. Every meeting must be followed up with recorded minutes to be submitted to Management within a day or two. Salary is generally lower than the average industrial benchmark. Work output per staff is judged by the quantity of outgoing emails generated (actively monitored by Management). This mindset encourages issues, that can routinely be settled with simple phone calls or face-to-face talks, be done by meaningless long-winded emails (cc to the whole world) instead. Management also have the unhealthy tendency to overwrite the feedbacks of site staff - dimissing them as trivial site issues instead (making condescending and snide remarks along the way).
