Positive experience, good 1st-line manager support, good working environment and people are generally helpful. Just avoid any politics and do not join in any lunch gossip. Stay professional - and remember that work is work, do not feed too much personal information about yourself to work colleagues. The good thingsThis is a large company. It would be understandable if there are some perceptions that top-level management is distanced from ground staff i.e. poor management support. But what would be more relevant to employees like myself is the level of support from my immediate manager (1st level management) and perhaps next-level manager/HOD - in this, the support is excellent and if you have specific requests to learn something, they will create or seek opportunities for you.
Pay is average to below-market rate but the good working factors and support make it a good trade-off, and progression can be fast based on what is observed of others if you are someone (1) willing to go beyond the extra, extra mile and (2) who can deliver excellence under pressure.
The challengesSometimes you have to just go ahead and try - some tasks do not have very clear do/don’t, criteria and expectations, and no clear reference figure, so it can be a bit challenging. But like all new jobs, it is just a matter of time figuring it out.
