A good stepping stone to start your career in the Public Service.
The good thingsOpportunities to shape young minds. Train and educate young adults. A good training ground if you want to start a career in teaching in PSEIs/IHLs.
The challengesRed-tape. Too many stalemates at the top. Waiting for retirement. People who were NOT from the industry are put in charge of you.

The challengesNo brief orientation on my first day of work. I had to depend on myself to explore further.

Good place to work, but not for ambitious individuals
The good thingsGood work/life balance. Typically no OT. Colleagues are nice too, willing to share all experience and knowledge they have. Other than normal teaching hours, we also have to clock self-upgrade hours, and projects hours. Some courses and projects are pretty interesting and innovative.
The challengesHaving to work with a good number of colleagues who are at least 60 yo can be a headache at times as they tend to be more stubborn, more resist to changes, and less open minded. Nevertheless, they are still very nice and friendly people.

The challengesSome processes are very tedious and inefficient, taking up time.

    Don't come here (College East)
The good thingsThe students and work life balance. Some freedom to make your lessons interesting.
The challengesMicro-management. Some department bosses only care for their KPIs and not the students.

    No career progression
The good thingsThe food, location, and gym
The challengesthe work culture is backward. Everyone is moving forward in technology, work cultures etc but the organization is moving backward instead. Technology is slow with data protection and the people working there are not diversified. Not willing to share, not helpful, and only follow the books (not flexible).

The good thingsMy employer provides lots of opportunities to fully develop staff to their best potential. It is very focussed in wanting to achieve success for every student that join our Institution. No student is left behind.
The challengesEducation requires experience and passion in this profession. However, experience comes with age. Recruitment of new staff in preparation for older ones retiring has always been a challenge in balancing the operation budget.
