An awesome place for R&D engineers and specialists
The good thingsA working environment that nurtures and brings out the best for those ambitious and motivated to take challenges. The working environment allows us to stretch ourselves to attain world-class new product development exposure and skills. Colleagues are very friendly and helpful and ideas are shared across the R&D room… there are no boundaries. Decently flexible working hours to balance my work-life. The greatest satisfaction is to see our developed and manufactured products are sold globally… and also the company continues to expand with more patented innovative new products in the pipeline and are being developed locally from scratch. This is rare to find in this part of the world. Often we heard from experienced colleagues who worked elsewhere before joining us, they merely make engineering improvements on products transferred from Europe, Japan, or the US.
The challengesWe use teleconference with our USA sales team weekly and Japanese customers very often. We do face some language barriers especially Japanese. This makes the exchange of information and data challenging at times. It was harder first to communicate with our US colleagues and understanding US customers’ expectations to resolve issues fast. While European customers are more tolerant of longer lead time. By observing our seniors handling them side by side, gradually we could blend in, and still, on occasions, we struggled a bit.

Really love the place and people in the R&D area!
The good thingsNice working environment with open sittings and we move around freely. Colleagues are friendly so we can rely on and support each other at work. The R&D manager is very helpful and approachable. Never turn me down on my every attempt to get his assistance for the past years.
The challengesThe company is expanding fast but some personal development of employees is not on par. Only those who stayed above 3 to 4 years colleagues have more privilege on given time and frequencies of coaching directly from advisors. The time difference between the US to Singapore during weekly teleconferences requires us to reach the office at 9.00 am sharp once a week. It also takes time to accept and learn the Japanese way of meetings and exchange of information.

    Rich experience in wide area
The good thingsGreat place to expand and extend your experince in new product development. It allows creativity and ample opportunity for growth and to learn new things.
The challengesThe learning curve can be steep, but this is a common challenge no matter where you are working at. As long as you willing to learn, this challenge can definitely be overcome.

    Constant product development
The good thingsEvery year there will be few products launched, so as one of the R&D members, we are challenged to develop it with good quality & on time.
The challengesOne should have good teamwork skills because, in some work aspects, we need to work closely with different types of people to ensure the target being met.

The good thingsI learn a lot about how to solve different problems found from each returned unit.
The challengesAt some point of time, too many units to handle with. Time management & willingness to work overtime is needed.

Dynamic Global Supply Chain in Technological Advancement
The good thingsAs this company is selling the products globally, I am being exposed to the global supply chain system where each region has its own unique characteristics. Hence, the dynamic working environment is created & it motivates me to plan & provide continuous improvement for a more efficient workflow. As technology is evolving & e-commerce becomes a common thing nowadays, the implementation into my work is being done for instance through the Amazon global system progressively.
The challengesAs the virus outbreak occurs in 2020, it affects the flow of goods to every region. Thus, proper planning & creative countermeasure need to be taken to ensure the goods are shipped on schedule. Close communication also needs to be done frequently as some of the colleagues are working remotely from home.

Global exposure on supply chain and order fulfillment
The good thingsI've been working here for over 3 years as Supply Chain Executives overseeing shipments and receptions of innovative products & components from the Suppliers and Factory to ALL over the world such as Japan, USA, Europe, ASEAN countries to India and Africa. Moreover, anyone in the company to receive and send goods via company will have to pass through me.
The challengesPlanning and managing those products timely and shipping them to all over the world can be very challenging especially in Pandemic time. Despite many shipping tasks have been delegated to our factory, managing the supply chain activity and cost control can be challenging and time consuming.

World class exposure for IT works in JSB TECH
The good thingsI've been in this company for over 9 years as IT officer. Get expose to world class access of many IT activities. From setting simple websites to tracking Android and iOS apps and web-based intelligent access management software used by hundreds of thousand users all over the world.
The challengesPutting up contents in numerous languages in those websites, apps and software such as Japanese, German, Chinese are very challenging but fulfilling instead of monotonously in one language. I'm around all the time and sitting in JSB office.

An excellent place for forging innovative new products development experience
The good thingsI've been in this company R&D for over 8 years. Have developed numerous world-class new products with granted over 20 patents from US, Japan, EU patent offices. I have been exposed by the company to Japan, USA, Europe to attend to world-leading product certification bodies and meeting customers.
The challengesI got 10 engineers under my watch. Some are thriving, build up skills quickly hence able to get satisfaction from seeing the products designed, manufactured and sold globally, but a few are struggling yet merely clocking normal working hours not bordering to catch up.

Great global exposure beyond just regional countries
The good thingsThis company is highly creative to innovative new products for global markets. It has won many international awards. Able and ambitious employees are given lots of opportunities, resources and attentions by the management.
The challengesCompany appears reluctant to get rid of a few less able employees as we see no turnaround in one full year. Should let go those that not contributing yet taking resources to be fair with those who high performing.

    Recommended for Workaholic
The good thingsColleagues. Approachable and helpful colleagues to induct newcomers to the company without much awkwardness. Colleagues are also willing to share and help overcome obstacles as a team. Energetic group of people since a large part of them are fresh graduates. Salary is considerable average to good for fresh graduates from recognised universities such as NTU. Good exposure for fresh graduates or junior executive looking for hands on opportunities under high pressure. Good place for like-minded workaholic that can put aside work-life balance.
The challengesHigh turnover and poor handover for most departments, causing unnecessary challenges for newcomers to adjust to their new roles. Time is wasted on understanding background information that could have been readily available with proper handover. Extremely high, and sometimes unreasonable, expectations from the management, more so if you have prior work experience. Varying workload across departments, but are all generally stressful that requires individual to know which to prioritise. Priority can change suddenly and randomly depending on the management change of mind. Unappreciative management who are unable to recognise staffs' effort. Fault is always on the employee for having no experience in the related field and refusing to seek advise from a PhD with connections to many other PhDs. Salary and bonuses are brought up as a tool to remind employers to be appreciative towards them and the company. Leave allowance and staffs' benefits are minimal. Long holidays are hardly possible. Flexible working hours and WFH is difficult to apply for.

    High turnover company
The good thingsColleagues are mostly friendly and have self initiated activities outside of work. But due to the high resignation rate most of them have left.
The challengesCareer progression is very limited so the good staff move on. The few long serving staff have challenges doing so, and don’t. You can view the one star reviews here, It’s mostly that. Also, no one knows the staff who wrote the 5 star reviews.

Best place to gain world-class exposure on sales/biz development
The good things1. Travel to many cities; Tokyo, Germany, Chicago/USA, Taiwan, Thailand etc. every years for trade shows and sales meeting. 2. Introducing and selling innovative products having nearly no competitors in the world. 3. No competitors in Singapore - no headache!
The challenges1. Learning new things.... since this company products are mostly so specialised that little relevant details can be found in internet. 2. Don't know what to you if my boss don't help me!... 3. Salary paid on time through bank transfer for the past two years but salary so so... not so great!

It’s sure a good experience to be honing my R&D skills here in JSB Tech pte ltd.
The good things- Given opportunities to involve in design of 2nd gen. world's-class innovative new products and won an innovation awards from USA. - CEO awarded my name to be registered in a U.S. granted patent for my contribution to designing the new product. - R&D manager was very helpful, coach and guide me through challenging time in design and testing.
The challenges- Stayed in JSB for over 4 year, more than half of my colleagues survived over 3 years to be truly benefit from rewards. But, some engineers don't last for even 1 to 2 years for the job. - Challenging to meet new product specification and performances but extremely rewarding when achieved. - Required to compete at world-class level.

Great company with world-class innovative products
The good things1. The company pioneered the world with many innovative products such 2-axis smart machinist levels and instruments sold in USA, Japan and Europe. I involved from beginning on these projects over 4 years ago. 2. Best R&D engineers have their name registered in patents granted by the U.S. patent office. I'm proud to have my name printed in few USPTO granted patents. 3. I visited USA with my CEO to receive awarded CES Innovation Award.
The challenges1. I was an R&D engineer in JSB for over 5 years. We must be quite good in our area to challenge the world-class innovation. The company does not focus so much to compete on local or region markets, but it targets the GLOBAL market... we were effectively competing among the world best!!! 2. Willing to give and take!
