    Ever increasing expectations on auditors
The good thingsColleagues. That's about it.
The challenges- Ever-increasing expectations/burden on auditors from clients, regulators, boss etc - Ever increasing turnover but replacements are almost non-existent, resulting in existing staff having to cover - Ever increasing redundant red tape/admin procedures - Clients expecting more from you but want to pay less and less every year

Wonderful culture but terrible working hours
The good thingsThe management encourages internal mobility and listens to the employees.
The challengesThe people expects you to work at all times. It hard to find a work life balance in this company. However, the company tries to organise more social events to encourage people to take off work.

Good starting point but bad culture
The good thingsJust like other big four, good exposure of various industries and a platform to strengthen auditing and accounting skills. It is a good stepping stone to develop a career in accounting.
The challengesThe firm is not honest and transparent on its policy expecially on what to expect for the coming promotion for new hire. This is when new hire staff acheived the minimum rating for promotion but is not promoted. The coaching process is not on par with pwc. There are room to improve the fairness of the performance evaluation process. Management does not always committed to what it has promised. Expect to work on weekend without compensation.

    Overworked employees
The good thingsWelfare of the company is decent - able to invest money to make sure that employees have decent welfare.
The challengesManagement does not care about the professional development of the employees. Employees are frequently overworked, albeit it is the industry nature. Management does not appreciate the additional work employees put in to cover for the not-so efficient workers.

    Long hours low pay
The good thingsKPMG provides an exceptional learning environment which enables you to develop quickly. There are a huge array of areas you could work in which facilitates learning opportunities through internal transfers and joint engagements.
The challengesThere is no justification for how poorly employees are remunerated at KPMG, given the hours they are required to work. They have a gross margin of nearly 70% yet apply an extremely rigid remuneration structure to their employees. So much so that outstanding performers are held back from promotion until they and their peer group have reached their “time”, at which point the outstanding performers salary is “re-baselined” to match their peers at the new level despite years of outperformance.

The good thingsPartners always try to improve on the welfare we receive Most of your colleagues are helpful. Flexible work arrangements (can work from home) I would say they are only behind PwC
