The challengesDefinitely the fact that there are a lot of foreigners therefore its hard to find a common interest with the other workers in the hotel.

    Good colleagues and friendly management
The good thingsEncouraging colleagues, good company culture. The company has an employee recognition programme that allows outstanding employees to be awarded accordingly. Employee welfare is also taken care of with monthly department outings and bonding time.
The challengesWhile working at the company, certain policies were interfering with customer satisfaction. However, the change took a long time and I personally felt that it could have been implemented faster as the continuous complaints from the guests were a little discouraging for the staff.

    Place for Hardworking People
The good thingsDuring my work at Mandrain, I learned the value of hard work in my day to day life and of course at work place, importance of the honesty in the team, management and toward the company, power of teamwork and determination along with the disciplinary importance in a big company.
The challengesPressure for Perfection: Most if the time the management want you to deliver the best you can to make the guests happy. This brings a mental pressure to work harder and push your limit all the time. After a certain level, the process turns into pressure. The is the only disadvantage I experienced while working in the hotel.

    Experience at Mandarin Oriental Singapore
The good thingsThe Good: They offer loads of training and the benefits are pretty good as well (ie: The uniforms are provided for Front Liners, the Food in the canteen - which is free, is pretty good with a mix of chinese and malay and sometimes indian. The Bad: Sometimes decisions are made without your knowledge. Many times when there is a lack of manning, you would have to cover for your team. Super Tiring
The challengesThe lack of manpower in the hospitality industry is very common but sometimes they expect the cover of duties which can be very tedious and taxing to your body. The change of shifts as well is another thing that you would have to get used to. Advisable to be young and healthy before strpping into this industry is my advise.
