No room for negotiation when it comes to taking leave. Extremely selfish.
The good thingsNothing I have enjoyed. It’s just a job.
The challengesDisappointed by how the company treats its employees. In this case, the company have mandatory retreats that are scheduled without regard for personal and family plans. It is frustrating to see zero flexibility when work clashes with long-planned holidays.

Passionate educators, great families, lovely and passionate culture
The good thingsEveryone is always working together as a team to see what we can do to constantly be better. When you walk in, the energy is always so calm and positive and everyone is really friendly!
The challengesConstantly trying to improve which means we are always playing catch up but I love coming home knowing we are doing what we can to ensure our little ones grow up with the best possible opportunities.

    Make the good better
The good thingsBoss is passionate about education and creating activities to promote learning beyond the classroom. Values parental involvement in Champs' learning journey. Continual guidance to staff. Maintains open door for staff contribution of ideas and time.
The challengesEnhance rewards for performance- Performance reward in addition to salary increment. Remove monthly meeting/training on weekend to provide staff time for rebalance and recreation of mind and body.

    High end preschool in Singapore
The good things- free lunch bento - colleagues are nice - business leader and principal are understanding - deployed to the school nearest to my house - no need to work on weekends (work life balance)
The challenges- no 13th month bonus - environment could be better (decorations, walls, tiles etc) - not really a challenge but the uniform needs a new design/ new material. Current uniform doesn’t present well as a teacher, look like a cleaner instead.

    Ridiculously frustrating place to work
The good thingsYou will meet some people who are genuinely passionate about the education industry. You will feel good being part of a movement to change the dysfunctional education system. If you have kids, you get discount for their programmes.
The challengesVery conservative and rigid culture that is stifling. Creativity is not encouraged. Lots of idiosyncrasies. Turnover is very high. Management will not think twice about letting go of staff, regardless of capability, contributions, seniority or years of service.

A great place to work if you're all about positive thinking
The good thingsI enjoyed working here because of the awesome colleagues and environment. The CEO practices what he preaches, and I really enjoy the bi-monthly POW WOW sessions where he teaches us how to be champions in our own right. The CMO is a vivacious and uplifting leader, which keeps us motivated. From time to time there's free mee siam.
The challengesI hope that one day MindChamps can become like Google and one of those Silicon Valley types of companies. It would be cool to have gourmet cafeterias, massage rooms, nap pods, haircuts, etc. We do however, have a doctor onsite if we needed medical attention. So we've got that going for us.

    Nuturing environment
The good thingsHad the pleasure of working with the CEO & CMO. The big boss man takes the effort to nurture you. Helping you grow with the company and in the role. So you really learn about the thinking behind things.
The challengesWell, it does take quite an effort to get on top of things. Considering there are lots of things happening at the same time. But this can be considered a good learning opportunity as well.

    Champion Teachers
The good thingsPositive teaching was something that I really learned. I love how MindChamps believed that every child is a Champ and we are the Champion Teachers nurturing future Champions. As much as it sounds like 'propaganda', I think going to work with this mindset really helps a lot and it makes the whole working mindset of the team a very positive and encouraging one. I love the family of teachers I work with because of this common belief that we have.
The challengesThe Headquarters can get quite naggy and slow when it comes to efficiency... I have been through franchise management and HQ owned. Both has it's challenges but in terms of growth (personal learning at work), it is definitely under franchise management that I had the freedom from the employers to really explore how to run the school better, conduct classes better and share moments together with the Champs and their parents.

Fun and enjoyable experience at work
The good thingsThe colleagues, monthly team meetings and Christmas celebrations are things that you do not normally get in other companies. A place where fun interaction with colleagues is actually part of work.
The challengesThere are different groups of people in the company including the sales team which are not actually staff of the company. Interaction between the different group of people need to be managed differently as their expectations differs.
