a MNC running like a SME
The good things1. chance to travel and work abroad for exposure. 2. able to heighten ur profile in the O&G industry. 3. this company doesn't retrench; no matter how bad a performance, u get to keep ur seat in the company. quite a place if u seek a perm job til retirement.
The challenges1. too many foreign talents who formed their own groups and take a chance on getting involvement in politics. 2. chance of a real project group collaboration to work together as \"one heart, one team\" is quite a rarity. 3. if u are hardworking and an asset, u will be assigned with alot of work. 4. benefits-in-kind are not really attractive; however, whatever entitlements as gazetted by MOM policy are implemented. 5. the company can definitely improve and soar if managed in an efficient way.

Fantastic working experience with number 1 FPSO company
The good thingsNice, supportive and very cooperative colleagues! adequate resources are provided to make things happen!
The challengesMgt is not very open to new idea as they are comfortable with existing legacy systems. Recycled staff (not part of leadership development program) can be seen everywhere within the organisation. There is a need to overhaul, upgrade the thinking and process to catch up with operators & contractors. The overall knowledge mgt (lessons learned & best practices sharing) should be looked into to make company going further. Employee retention scheme should be studied before execution (layoffs) and further improved amid recent business climate in FPSO business environment and cost reductions driven from the top. Talent management and career growth do not seem to exist during my tenure with MODEC.

Was a good multinational company to work in.
The good thingsWorking relationship between field employees are great. This is a great company for starters as well since the company is into conversion of ship to fpso ie. designing and operation and maintenance of the fpso as well.
The challengesThe communication gap between management and employees whereby it takes quite sometime for the employees to get to hear from the management especially Modec Ghana.

The good thingsBuilding relationship with people from different cultures as we all know that offshore worker's used to work with people from several different racial and language. And in order to work with people from different cultural groups effectively you will need to build sturdy and caring relationships based on trust, understanding, and shared goals as people work on challenging problems.
The challengesIt may seem odd that in order to learn about people in other cultures, we start by becoming more aware of our own culture, and if you haven't had a chance to understand how your culture has affected you first hand, it's more difficult to understand how it could affect anyone else or why it might be important to them, then you may be more aware of how it has affected others.
