A meaningful working experience in a company that genuinely cares for the community
The good things- Supportive colleagues who are always willing to help, regardless of departments - Managers who are approachable, and helped me grow professionally - Meals provided - Able to be part of the efforts of the company to help and reach out to the community - Gained experience working with different groups of people
The challengesThere are always challenges that come with any job. However, the challenges that come with this job can shape one to be a better and more experienced worker.

    Meaningful experience
The good things- Supportive colleagues - Great environment - Meals provided - A good experience for fresh grads who are keen on trying out social service
The challengesAs it’s shift working hours, it may not be enticing to some but personally, I would say that the working hours are still manageable.

    Good working environment
The good thingsFriendly working environment, positive colleagues, purpose-driven management. Free, delicious cookhouse food.
The challengesWork hours (8am-6pm) can be long for some. But the overall positive environment negates this disadvantage.

    Meaningful and fulfilling job!
The good thingsStaff are treated like family at MTFA and Darul Ihsan where the work ambience feels friendly and warm. The Council, Committee Members and Management comprise of highly-driven, experienced, visionary leaders who have relevant skills and big ambitions to bring the organisation to greater heights with implementation of impactful initiatives. They are steadfast and very focus at bringing positive life-changing solutions to the residents (of Darul Ihsan) and their clients (of Welfare Aid, Kidney Care). Staff Development, Staff Welfare as well as Staff Recognition are closely monitored and well executed to aid in staff empowerment and increased motivation. There is opportunities to contribute to helping the needy directly. Hence, being part of an organisation that supports the less-privileged community is very meaningful and fulfilling!
The challengesThe staff can get too absorbed and dedicated in their work.

A good workplace with supportive colleagues and managers
The good thingsSupportive colleagues and managers, attractive salary which commensurates with one’s qualifications and experience (not sure if it is still the same with the new management), exposure/opportunity to interact with kids from challenging walks of life (for those keen in the social service industry), provides meaning/purpose to the things you do at work and food is free and great (cooked in-house)!
The challengesUsed to be a 5.5 days (alternate) work week but the new management abolished it so now it is on a 5-day work week. This thus provides better work-life balance and care for employees. Previous management was very micro-managing and personal (i.e failed to exercise professionalism in all aspects - only in some) but this has ever since changed with the introduction of the new management and Board of Council.

    Terrible Management Style
The good thingsThe shift work allows for 4 days off. Unfortunately, that is the only benefit for a welfare officer.
The challengesThe management style is very poor. They lack social work/educational/child development backgrounds yet the management always micromanages every single details! Their values are not aligned with the company values at all! You can bring up issues but do not have hope that it will ever be solved. They are stucked in their old constricted (no growth) mindset, not future-oriented.
