Startup Experience . Good for entry level
The good thingsYou will learn everything. Explore users and take care of everything under your hand. Gain Experience a lot.
The challengesEven though this is beyond our knowledge, but still goes through us first. If it can't be resolved then we have to pass it to their department. Where else clear cut this issue doesn't belong to us Everything is based on statistics and data. Hiring upper-level Management is more important than considering lower executives. Want to complete a project fast, but then when people claim extra hours (This cannot that cannot)

If you are looking for a carrier based on merit & safety, this should be your right choice.
The good thingsCompany believes in well being of its employees first. Your voice is heard to the top of the helm. Professionalism & Team work remained at the core of success for over the last half a century. Being one of the largest & safest transport systems in the world, keeps profile low. Honors the seafarers as the core of the company.
The challengesFast transport demands are coming up. Number of High speed vessels may need to be increased as part of fleet the fleet is reaching maximum service age. South Asian crew retaining rate is high. Even during Covid Pandemic they proved their resilience. It would be good to have recruiting agents in all South Asian Countries.

    Time to keep up
The good thingsExcellent department colleagues, and enjoy my work scope. Too much work but means great learning. Company's benefit was not too bad.
The challengesSystems are outdated and many departments pushing their work. Many unclear SOPs as nobody is managing it. Managers does not seemed capable for the role but was constantly promoted, while executive's position remain as it is. Most capable people were not recognized and rather move on with other jobs for higher pay.

Rigid rules and standard traditional management
The good things21 days for annual leave Cbd area A lot of young colleagues to get to know Get hands on experience from documentation to commercial team
The challengesVery typical, traditional company who focuses on hierarchy. Many micro managers who focus on wrong things. Could spend more time coaching rather than nitpicking.

Working for PIL can be a great experience depending our your who your superior is
The good thingsStaff benefits are attractive - 21 days of AL, quarterly staff activities such as discounted movies, treetop walks, relaxing techniques. Colleagues are generally nice and feels like a family. Training opportunities are present too.
The challengesThe company has a long history. Therefore, the office generally looks a bit old. Some stuff such as tables and chairs have been around for some time. My superior has been awfully difficult to work with (which results in high turnover for my team). However, colleagues in other teams have been working for a very long time, Staff who have been with the company for more than 10 years is a norm.

Good work life balance MOST of the time
The good thingsWe can work from home twice a week as a planner. Work load is not too heavy and I can usually go home on time. I also have good colleagues and a boss who is willing to help. The company also organized dinners where we get to enjoy ourselves.
The challengesTime is a factor. They like to change things around all the time. So, it is not uncommon to work late at night too. The trade/capacity departments tends to treat planners badly and expects us to work 24/7. Too many last min changes during peak seasons.

The good thingsThis is a \"Singapore Brand\" Company currently stands at World number 17th in terms of TEUs. PIL owned the building at Cecil Street with the top floor (17th floor) being the Penthouse where the Teo family members and management personnel will hold lunch everyday. Each department will be designated a certain day of the week and within the departments, executives will rotate to attend lunch.
The challengesBeing a family owned business, strategies are conservative and very prudent. Therefore, scenarios like \"if things are not going anywhere wrong, let's leave it as it is\". Mindset among middle management like this are very common.
