From my attachment, new skills, knowledge, and invaluable experience are my key take-away therefore, having an optimistic attitude towards work in the internship is an asset that i will want to maintain in the future. The good thingsI was glad to be given the opportunity to attend the 5S training and WSQ Supervise Workplace Safety and Health Practices which has well-prepared me for manufacturing work life. Nevertheless, I have trained to be a fast-learner and learn as much as I could throughout the six-month internship. I have gained new knowledge through interaction with various suppliers as well as distributors. With on the job training for Microsoft Excel and SAP system, I have acquired new computing technical skills. In particular, I am honored to participate in a site-and learning trip at PCI Batam factory.
The challengesDuring my internship at PCI Limited, my job scope was mainly easing the workload of Quality Assurance manager and also completing the tasks assigned to me. I was assigned to work on ROHS compliance assessment. As a beginner, I could not differentiate between ROHS and REACH certificate compliance. I managed to complete the data collection on time after familiarizing myself with the compliance statement within one week. One of the challenges I faced was the outdated part numbers in GreenData Manager (GDM) system. In order to collect the certificate of compliance, email was sent to the fixed distributor in the request for supporting documents.
