Meaningful, learning journey with a great team. Highly stressful job, needs to be mentally prepared to handle.
The good thingsGreat stimulation. Meaningful job. Great team to work with and a management and environment that supports and allows for career growth and development. Learned a lot and picked up many skills during my work such as the ability to prepare workflows for departments and also handled Low emergency case. Able to handle problematic parents and divert clients who require other support than CPS.
The challengesCPS was facing an influx of cases due to COVID and the lockdown that followed. As a result, workload increased and so did the stress. Due to high volume of work and work from home as the mode of work, there was a huge issue with time boundaries. As such we were easily overworked and overstretched. With studies commitment, it was almost impossible to sustain the stress. Caused burnout to many colleagues and myself.

Only value adds on your resume
The good thingsSuitable for individuals who are studying at the same time.
The challengesHowever, there is a clear distinction in terms of being treated between casual staff and full-time staff. Be careful of others that appear to ensure 'fairness' but behaves otherwise.
