An Admin Officer with 17 years of extensive experience overseeing administrative duties related to equine health, supporting veterinary teams and ensuring efficient operations for horse racing and events.
The good thingsI enjoy being part of a dedicated team that ensures the health and well-being of the racehorses, which are integral to the success of the club, working closely with veterinarians, trainers, and staff to ensure smooth operations.
The challengesI find the fast-paced environment and heavy workload challenging at times, especially during race days. However, these improve my efficiency and provides a great sense of accomplishment, as it directly contributes to the welfare of racehorses and the smooth operation of events at the Turf Club.

Declining industry with a lack of strong leadership
The good thingsAlthough a long walk to office, it is a nice morning walk that lift up your spirit before work starts. At times we are able to see horses during the morning track work. This is something different from any other companies. It is also a slow paced environment, thus more suitable for those who have retirement mindset or family-oriented. Sometimes it is also frustrating since work can be done faster & more efficient.
The challengesCompany is still not performing well, despite management who went overseas to learn from other racing clubs. It is ironic that HR continue to recruit people of management level, when certain job scopes can be done by non-management which is more cost-savings. Top management should work well together and move towards the same goal - improve company's performance.

Good working environment! But sadly a declining business model.
The good thingsThe company ensures that everyone has a conducive work environment. Very scenic place to work in too. HR department is very accommodating and understanding.
The challengesSadly horse-racing is a declining business.

Nothing exciting but a good and stable place for retirement
The good thingsThe people and colleagues are nice and fun to work with. Politics is very minimal and people are generally very helpful. Work-life balance is good too, especially if you have a family or one who cherishes your social and personal life.
The challengesThe leadership is almost non-existent and management gives the staff the feeling that they do not know what they are doing. Even if they did, they do not make it known. Career progression is very slow so only work here if you like to take things slow or are looking for a retirement job.

    Career opportunities not ideal
The good thingsThe benefits are quite good, annual leave of 21 days, marriage leave of 7 days, annual simple medical check up in the club, if you wish to get a full body check up, it can be arranged at a fee. It's interesting to know how the club works and you get to know the back end stuff that you will never know if you dont work there.
The challengesIt would be good if the career opportunities in the club is more transparent. It will all depends on your direct boss to decide your fate in the club. The club is a good place for people who wants to stay there for good, because once you learn up what you need to do, it's going to be the same for the rest of your time there.

    Nice environment
The good thingsFor animals lover, being able to be so close to horses is a bonus for the daily work
The challengesMaybe a course on how to react when in close range with horses will help in the daily work and reduce injury.

    Good Place to Retire
The good things1. Worklife Balance 2. Nice scenic working environment 3. Excellent colleagues 4. Exciting product offering
The challenges1. A declining industry 2. Heavily regulated by the authority, thus little room for innovation and to compete 3. Very process-driven in a bureaucratic environment, which hinder efficiency, innovation, and productivity 4. Career advancement and development are limited. 5. People who are more vocal and outspoken will find the working culture here challenging
