I faced a challenging work environment involving excessive workload, extended working hours, and limited support from HR in addressing concerns.
The good thingsFriendly colleague, canteen available with food subsidy, near to my staying area
The challengesToxic work culture where I am frequently criticized during meetings by cross-functional teams, often with offensive and inappropriate language. When I express that I am overburdened with tasks, including responsibilities belonging to others, my manager publicly agrees with the team, telling me to focus on my own work. However, after the meeting, the manager insists that I must still cover my colleague’s tasks as well. Additionally, my manager often stops me just as I’m about to leave the office around 7 PM, pulling me into late-night working sessions until 10 or 11 PM. Even after returning home, I receive work messages as late as midnight. HR does not act impartially and consistently sides with the employer, disregarding ethical practices.

    Process Engineer
The good thingsThis company has many opportunities for an engineer to learn and to grow. The whole team is easy to approach with for any help needs, as long as your goals and plans are clearly laid out. The senior engineers are passionate in what they do and they are willing to share what they had learned throughout the years. The management is also appreciative for the significant contributions of an employee.
The challengesIt is a fast-paced manufacturing company, thus, it is not easy to have work-life balance. It would seem overwhelming also especially for the newly graduates. Turnover is high because people tend to leave when things get rough or tiring, not that we can blame them, because the people who left will not be immediately replaced. That is why it is tiring for those who remained.

Skip this company at all cost
The good thingsThere used to be a lot of Overtime.
The challengesNo bonuses and increments for the past few years. Management cited poor financial results. Too much costs cutting and management is not willing to spend on new tools. Not willing to invest on their people who are their greatest assets. So there is no way for this company to grow. It is just a matter of time that the company will close shop. Retrenchment package is next to non-existent.
