Slow paced, no career development unless you do PhD
The good thingsFlexible working pace, manager/bosses do not micro-manage (dependent)
The challengesUpper management is inflexible and does not make decisions that most workers will agree with. very poor career development unless you decide to pursue further academic qualifications (aka PhD)

    Many learning opportunities
The good thingsPeople from all the labs were friendly, with many of the PIs being very approachable and nice. As an intern, was allowed to aid in labwork, which let me learn a lot about the overall research workflow and problem solving skills. Allowed me to learn how to work independently.
The challengesThe facility seems quite old and is quite out of the way, but thankfully there are shuttle buses.

An organization that has changed over time.
The good thingsInitially it was a very diverse environment with inspiring people. The facilities were adequate and the regular visits, talks of scientists and professors were interesting. The company building is also located in a good, green surrounding inside NUS.
The challengesThe company structure has changed over the time and the initial crowd of researchers has moved away. The management had no intention to continue with the initial basic research model for which the company has been built on. This has caused disappointment in most of the staff. There were also no carrier development choices.
