Fulfilling job with opportunities for personal growthThe good thingsAt The Little Skool-House International, I got the opportunity to be both a mentee and a buddy/mentor. When I first joined the early childhood field, I felt lost and did not really have a clear view about what to do. Thankfully, I had a mentor to guide and encourage me along the way, I knew I had someone to turn to when challenges arose. This really helped me to transit nicely from being a full time student to a confident full time early childhood educator.
After 2 years in The Little Skool-House International, I had the opportunity to become a buddy/mentor myself. Like what my mentor did for me, I try my best to help new teachers and student teachers settle nicely into their role as an early childhood educator. Right now, as an early childhood educator in The Little Skool-House International, I not only receive joy from the children but I also get to experience the joy of seeing new teachers fall in love with their job as an early childhood educator.
The challengesOne challenge I face would be the inclusion of children with special needs in my classroom. As the children have different needs, time is needed to plan a variation of activities to cater to their different needs. However, I had the opportunity to attend trainings on inclusion and it has equipped me with some useful strategies on how I can manage these children in my classroom.
