Poor management and no staff welfare
The good thingsThe staff there are working and motivating each other cause the management is extremely poor.
The challengesPoor communication and direction from the management to the employees, your talent will be squeezed to every bit, salary was not raised for 7 years, no career opportunities, no staff welfare, we have angry customers who left the company and result to reporting to CASE. The center is just like an old museum instead of a education center for kids. The bosses will text you in the wee hours.

The good thingsStaff are working hard together to help the company but the bosses are not appreciated.
The challengesManaging the bosses that is too difficult and demanding. Texting staff during their off days and also in the wee hours like 2.30am.

    Fulfilling work as a teacher
The good thingsI taught at shichida for a couple of years and found my time there to be very worthwhile. I loved seeing my children every week and they were my favourite part about going to work. The other teachers and staff there were really nice and a great support when I needed help with anything (not sure if I can say the same for other centers). Occasional staff luncheons were also a lot of fun as we got to unwind and just play, eat and bond with other people. I came to shichida with a passion for teaching and left with the same if not more passion and I feel like the two years there solidified my dream to teach. Now I'm aiming to become an MOE teacher to further reach my goal.
The challengesThe teaching days can be stressful sometimes and we are always reminded to stay healthy because taking mc on weekends is such a burden on the staff, students and me too because of cancellations and planning replacement lessons. They do have locum teachers to take over but the managing of that is quite lacking so we usually handle it ourselves.

    Rewarding and meaningful career
The good thingsFlexibility and freedom. Teaching autonomy is high. Able to inspire young children with weekly lessons. Not so much politics as colleagues are mostly nice.
The challengesPhysically tiring as you may get up to 12-14 classes in a single week. Need to constantly stay healthy.

Good place to gain experience and learn especially for fresh graduates, but not a job to stay for in the Long term.
The good thingsPositive environment, responsible and nice colleagues. Fun curriculum, there is room for Creative expressions. Get to learn more about how the brain works and it is fascinating.
The challengesCompany is very disorganized, no proper system. Poorly managed. High turnover rate. No reward system. Capable workers and workers who worked hard are not appreciated or rewarded for their effort. Bonus is very very little. Have to handle a lot of different duties. You need to have high level of energy and stamina to endure the weekends. Weekends consist of back to back lessons. 1 hour 15 mins class with 15 mins break in between another class. Last for the entire day from 8:30 to 6:45 pm.

It was unraveling and liberating experience of millennial education.
The good thingsI enjoyed using my creativity in making learning for toddlers and first-time parents truly amazing and wonderful through my fantastic handcrafted costumes and conceptualized activities such as math, language, and general knowledge games. The company has exposed the teacher to various roles, for instance, customer assistance, marketing of school products and launching new branches.
The challengesSince the company has enormously expanded through the years and being a senior teacher at the same time has given us so many changes that I had to cater to newbies which challenged my patience to adults and professionals. These people came from different fields of studies and not everyone has an educational background, so I had to stand in their perspective in training them. The program is catering to toddlers whereby most are first-time parents which are naturally skeptical about our Method.

The good thingsThe great bonding of instructors and parents. They have a great technique for the children to become geniuses. It is also a fantastic way of parent and child bonding session.
The challengesThe number os students and classes were a lot that it tires the instructor out easily.
