The good thingsFamily driven culture. Owners are nice people. Supportive.
The challengesVery few people with quality and substance. They need to change out some of the stubborn HODs and supervisors, as they pose the greatest obstacles to change. Lacks leadership or vision. Good luck to HR team driving the productivity and change initiatives. It's tough, but hang in there!

The good thingsI like the management. they are family oriented. Working to professionalise and improve since we moved into new building in 2020.
The challengesNon singaporean employees plenty, Teaching is an issue sometimes due to culture and communication. Scaling up operations and introducing concepts to be more efficient, but a challenge for older folks.

    GROWTH IS ALWAYS A CHALLENGE
The good thingsAlthough a family business, the scale has rocketed and company has grown. It is a lot more professional now than 2-3 years back. There are properly and professionally structured departments, and HR has brought in roles and functions the company never used to have, implemented rules for compliance and discipline. New breed working to bring changes, identifying, troubleshooting, rectifying and improving processes.
The challengesIts a challenging environment. Being in domestic fresh food business, there is hardly any downtime. The facility operates all year round except during Chinese New Year. Unlike the past, headcount has increased exponentially from 50 to 200+. Maybe too fast. We cannot keep up with the pace, and the accountability that comes with expansion, but HR still keeps hounding for things, which is necessary BUT ANNOYING!!!

    FARM TO TABLE MEAT SHOP
The good thingsFamily run business. Approachable management, although not very receptive of changes. HR is engaging, genuine, although operating in a challenging environment, has been very positive.
The challengesCompensation structure takes time to understand. Basic benefits. OJT sorely lacking, thrown into deep end of pool to swim or sink. I do not envy the HR here >_<!

    RAW MEAT PROCESSING FACTORY
The good thingsOverall HR had support from the bosses worked to improve overall working conditions, lots of changes big and small. Have noticed positive results and difference over just a few months. Some of the improvements i observed: 1) Resignations down. Manpower stable since September 21. 2) Age friendly employment practice 3) Leadership during covid 4) Positive HR = Staff morale up. 5) Pay structure change, now fairer, (but not fantastic)
The challengesStaff benefits are very basic. Sner Management needs to adapt to change, otherwise will lose some key people.

    Family controlled, Family Run Business
The good thingsSome department head and manager formerly from MNCs stand out and bring about changes to a family controlled business. Not all of the changes are popular, and changes are always challenging, but at least they dare to step forward and improve the systems and the environment. A great change to the culture led by HR.
The challengesMany in leadership positions lack leadership and direction, especially those promoted from within. There are more doers than thinkers, in their cocoon.

Not the best, but can do
The good thingsSome management staff lead by example. When shorthanded due to covid outbreak, management went to do packing and delivery alongside the rest! Open culture with HR, they are patient, genuinely caring and professional. Speaks our language and blends in well. Checks in on staff frequently. Keep it up.
The challengeswill not get rich working here.
