Assistant Manager, Payments

Reporting to Director, Group Finance, the Assistant Manager, Payments will be responsible for end-to-end payment processing related to value-based payment models and population health programs. This role requires a hands-on approach to ensure accurate, timely, and efficient payments, while concurrently identifying opportunities to streamline and automate payment workflows for greater efficiency.

As a one-person function, the Assistant Manager will process payments while simultaneously driving process improvements using automation and digitalization, ensuring that NHG's payment operations evolve towards greater accuracy, transparency, and efficiency.

Reports To: Director, Group Finance

Job Purpose

To assist the Director, Group Finance in the following:

  1. Payment Processing & Operations

  • Compute and process payments for various value-based payment models, ensuring adherence to service agreements.
  • Raise payment requests for claim reimbursements, ensuring supporting documentation is complete.
  • Track the status of payment requests and follow up to ensure timely disbursement.
  • Handle payment-related queries and disputes from healthcare providers and other stakeholders.
  • Work with 1FSS (Finance Shared Services) to ensure accurate and timely bookkeeping entries.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders for data collation and validation.

  1. Process Optimization & Automation

  • Identify inefficiencies and streamline current payment workflows to enhance accuracy and turnaround time.
  • Implement automation tools, digital solutions, or RPA (Robotic Process Automation) to reduce manual processing.
  • Develop and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) for optimized payment processing.
  • Ensure compliance with best practices in financial governance and digital finance transformation.

  1. System Implementation

  • Work with IT and finance teams to implement payments system or integrate payment systems with existing financial infrastructure.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  1. Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in payment processing, claims administration, or financial operations.
  • Experience in process automation, finance digitalization, or workflow optimization is highly preferred.
  • Prior experience working with payment processing systems, ERP software, or RPA solutions is a plus.

  1. Technical & Functional Skills

  • Strong understanding of payment workflows, financial controls, and reconciliation processes.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Power BI, financial automation tools, and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Workday).
  • Familiarity with automation tools such as UiPath, Power Automate, or SQL scripting to enhance efficiency.

  1. Soft Skills & Competencies
  • Hands-on and execution-driven - able to process payments while driving improvements in parallel.
  • Problem-solving mindset - able to identify inefficiencies and implement practical solutions.
  • Strong communication skills - able to engage internal stakeholders (finance, IT) and external providers.
  • Self-motivated and independent, able to work effectively in a one-person function while managing multiple priorities.
