Assistant Principal Engineer - Hull Basic Design

Job description:
Responsibilities:
- Mentor a team of engineers in Basic design to carry out Hull form and General Arrangement development, Hydrodynamic and stability calculations for a tender or ongoing projects
- Assist in the development of new products
- Support other in-house departments and external parties, where required, by providing specialist technical advice and information.
- To generate list of drawing/document specific to each project
- Prepare technical specifications for equipment procurement (e.g. major deck equipment) and perform technical evaluation of vendor's bid
- Carry out naval architectural calculations, hydro dynamic analysis, stability calculations.
- Prepare and review layout arrangement in accordance with building specification, rules, and regulations (fire, watertight integrity, accommodation layouts etc.)
- Manage and check technical information of external suppliers of equipment and systems and coordinate/cooperate with engineers from other trades in the organization.
- To check and approve calculation/drawings and material list and ensure that they conform to contractual technical specifications, installation control documents, Classification and Statutory Rules/Regulations.
- Participate in tests and trials, where required.
- Liaise with ship owners and surveyors.
- Ensure that all design issues raised by owner, Class and Flag on drawings and documents are timely and properly captured in Action Item Register for follow-up actions.
- Keep abreast with current technological developments and products.
- Keep abreast with Classifications Rules, military and industrial standards relevant to design activities.
Knowledge & Skills:

- Strong knowledge of international design codes, Classification/Statutory Rules, and Regulations.
- Engineering Design and Project Management skills
- Strong Leadership and Interpersonal skills.
- Naval architecture, Structure, Outfitting, Accommodation design
- AutoCAD, Aveva Marine, NAPA, Microsoft office, Rhino 3D, CFD software knowledge
- High proficiency in 3D modeling skills using 3D CAD software will be an advantage.
Requirements:
- Degree in Naval Architecture/ Marine Engineering or Structural Engineering from a recognized University
- At least 8-10 years' experience in engineering design in Marine/Offshore/Oil & Gas industry or Classifications Societies.
- Strong Leadership and Interpersonal skills to manage both team members and stakeholders from across the company, vendors and clients

- 5 days work week
- Working Hours: 7.25am to 5.00pm
