Assistant Finance Manager
Job Summary:
The Assistant Finance Manager (Corporate Reporting) supports the preparation, consolidation, and analysis of financial reports for management, statutory, and group reporting purposes. The role ensures the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial submissions while maintaining strong compliance with accounting standards, corporate policies, and regulatory requirements. Working closely with internal stakeholders and cross functional teams, the Assistant Finance Manager contributes to the integrity of financial information, enhances reporting processes, and supports continuous improvements within the finance function.
The role also provides analytical insights to management, assists in audit-related matters, and supports budgeting and forecasting cycles. This position requires strong technical accounting knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
Consolidate weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual management/corporate financial reports in accordance with group reporting requirements and accounting standards.
Supports consolidation of financial results from all subsidiaries and branches and ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency across submissions.
Review subsidiaries and branches submission of financial reports and uploaded data in group reporting software and ensure classification and amount are correctly reported.
Analyse financial results, variances, and trends, providing commentary and insights for management decision making.
Upload, patch and reconcile sales in SQL to support BI reporting for Top Customers reporting and sales performance tracking.
Support the preparation of statutory financial statements and liaise with auditors during interim and year end audits.
Maintain strong internal controls over financial reporting and ensure adherence to corporate governance requirements.
Coordinate and review Internal Control Questionnaires from all sites and ensure accurate and consistent responses for all sites.
Implement improvements to reporting templates, systems, and processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Ensure compliance with IFRS, company accounting policies, and regulatory reporting obligations.
Prepare schedules, disclosures, and supporting documents for group consolidation and statutory filings.
Work closely with cross functional teams (e.g., Operations, Procurement, HR) to verify financial data and resolve discrepancies.
Coordinate the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and long-term business plans.
Support system enhancement projects, including ERP upgrades, reporting tools, and process automation initiatives.
Respond to ad hoc reporting requests and management analyses promptly and professionally.
Guide finance staff in financial reporting tasks, ensuring accuracy, accountability, and compliance.
Undertake any other reasonable duties / projects which may be required from time to time.
Competencies:
Bachelor's Degree / Diploma pursuing Professional certification/ACCA/CA in Accountancy.
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
Demonstrates strong financial expertise, sound judgement, and effective leadership, contributing significantly to the accuracy, compliance, and overall efficiency of the finance function.
Technical Financial Reporting Competence
Strong knowledge of IFRS and relevant corporate reporting standards.
Ability to prepare and review consolidated financial statements.
Strong understanding of month‑end and year‑end close processes.
Familiarity with reporting tools and ERP systems (e.g., Syteline, Lucanet).
Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills
Ability to interpret financial data and identify trends, root causes, and anomalies.
Skill in preparing variance analysis and converting data into actionable insights.
Ability to evaluate accounting treatments and determine appropriate applications.
Attention to Detail & Accuracy
Produces error‑free reports and reconciliations.
Ensures completeness and consistency in corporate submissions.
Maintains high standards in documentation and audit-ready records.
