Part-time Temperature Screening Staff @ SMUThe good thingsThe company ensures that everyone has a conducive work environment by providing more than the expected equipment for the role. Some of the benefits that staff get to enjoy are 10% discount at Koufu@SMU, 2 twenty minute breaks at 10am and 3pm, and a 1-hour lunch break between 12pm and 1pm, every day. Plus, working from 8am to 6pm, slightly more than regular office hours. The university environment is really well aligned with my impending entry into SUTD, so working in such an environment has better prepared me mentally for what it will be like to return to pursuing higher education, for someone like me who has just finished a mentally-draining full-time National Service (NS) stint.
In terms of career and personal growth, there just isn't since this is a part-time and temporary role in light of the DORSCON Orange in Singapore. Team culture is highly apparent as we are managed by a friendly and patient senior team lead, who is very understanding and reasonably forgiving.
I would say the management is excellent in terms of proper manpower planning, to avoid sudden shortfalls or excess manpower for each day.
The challengesTurning up on time might be a challenge given the reporting time is 8am. Located in Bras Basah, taking the train during the morning rush hour can cause delays, especially when there are sudden track faults occurring Southbound (NSL). The job is relatively stress-free but can be continuous for a good deal of time, say about 30 to 40 minutes. That's usually during the morning hours of 8-10am. Thereafter, the clearance load is greatly reduced.
