Poor management and the misalignment of the purpose of delivering education at the expense of business profit-makingThe good thingsThe company values those who put in the effort to work hard for them. They remunerate hard work and performance.
The challengesThe company's vision towards education is one that is profit-making and less on student development. To ensure the school continues to operate, they have to ensure continuous influx of foreign students e.g. Vietnamese, Chinese and Indians. However, they do not have a robust assessment system to assess the capabilities of the foreign students taking the curriculum, usually from UK partner universities. When this happens, students who lack the competencies find themselves struggling with the UK curriculum, and eventually become de-motivated. Lecturers are over-worked with back-to-back teaching, resulting in the lack of attention to marking and moderation. All in all, it becomes a vicious cycle in the quality management at each stage of the process.
