What’s it like working at Eastspring Investments?

    AI summary of recent reviews

Employees at Eastspring Investments appreciate the collegial and supportive colleagues, particularly in the Equities department with its strong culture. They also value the good medical benefits and the understanding and patient users who are willing to wait during lunch hours for emergency support.

However, there are potential challenges such as too much interference from the parent company Prudential, which may not fully understand asset management. There are also operational issues like disarray in the mid and back office, and a struggling technology restructuring. Additionally, some reviewers have concerns about senior management's capabilities and their focus on the parent company rather than growing the third-party business. Finally, there are staffing challenges with high turnover and reluctance to provide lunch hour support coverage.

The good thingsCoworkers are collegial, supportive, and enjoyable to work with. In particular, the Equities department has a strong culture of diligence, humility and respect.
The challengesToo much interference by the parent (PRU), which is an insurance company and completely unaware of how an asset manager should be run. There is too much dependency on the parent, and management is too focused on the parent instead of trying to grow the third party business. The mid and back office are in disarray, and the recent technology restructuring has been a complete flop. Senior management seem to be in their positions not because of their capabilities but rather their "relationship" with the parent. Senior management does not realise that asset management is not the same as insurance and employee turnover is disruptive to the business and impossible to manage.

The good thingsUsers are understanding and patience in giving you time to troubleshoot issues they are having and giving you info on what happened. Users are aware of lunch timeing and try to avoid calling support during lunch time except for emergency cases where I get calls on blackberry for such issues and trying to resolve these issues. during emergency cases like these, users are willing to wait patiently.
The challengesHave a support guy standby in the office is a big challenge as not many is willing to stay back in the office for a pack in lunch. Even though we have a pantry that is stock with food and drinks, and abundant seating on the pantry area for staff to bring in their takeaways, few of us are reluctant to stay back in the office through out lunch hours to standby in case of emergency calls.
