Singapore1 to 2 years in the role, former employee
Limited room for career growth, middle management only concerned about making their bosses happy
The good thingsAble to learn more about Japanese corporate culture and opportunity to work with several non-locals.
The challengesStuck in old ways of doing things, not daring or innovative enough. Still using ink and paper stamps when the company can just subscribe to Adobe. Tokyo HQ usually wants to approve every single thing, which makes things go slowly. Overall, a stagnant and rather boring workplace.

    Hitachi Ltd, Philippine Branch
The good thingsThe experience will be very good, especially for young engineers looking to make a career in the power industry. If only for this, it is worth staying (for a while), for the technical know-how to be gained.
The challengesThe salary was a bit low, so people tend to leave after gaining needed experience.
