What’s it like working at Kennards Hire?

    AI summary of recent reviews

Employees at Kennards Hire consistently praise the camaraderie and supportive team environment, with many forming lasting friendships and appreciating the family values that permeate the organisation. The company provides extensive training for beginners, allowing employees to learn new skills and gain practical experience. Profit share bonuses, free hire benefits, and the generosity of the family-owned business are highly valued, as is the support from branch managers who are accessible and look out for their teams.

However, there are some potential challenges to consider. The salary structure can mask a lower hourly rate, and long working hours of 10-11 hours per day, including weekends, may impact work-life balance. The role can be physically demanding, involving manual handling of heavy equipment. Career progression opportunities may be limited due to low staff turnover, and some employees feel that senior management could benefit from a deeper understanding of branch operations. Additionally, there is a steep learning curve when starting, particularly for those without a construction background.

The good thingsAmazing team, everyone was dedicated to the job, management always looked out for you even if you made mistakes, super supportive of you and the pay was great. You can make friends for life here easily.
The challengesDay to day could be very different, one day doing regular customer service, the next you're out helping on major projects with big jobs, not that its a bad thing. Customers can also be a challenge.

Not the worst job, but far from the best
The good thingsThe camaraderie and banter shared between your team; profit share bonuses; great for a complete beginner as extensive training is provided; the emphasis on safety
The challengesLack of training on specialist products unless you work at a specialist branch; long hours can be draining; the amount of manual work can be taxing; weekly pay doesn't feel equal to the work you do
