Good job to considerThe good thingsThey treat employees like grown-ups. They share information with employees, listen to them and assume they are responsible enough to manage their own time. They see fun, humor and relaxation not as the enemies of hard work, but as its allies. They have a purpose -- a mission -- that everyone understands. Even better, every employee can tell you the role he or she plays in achieving that purpose.
The challengesThe greatest challenge I've faced in my career to date has to be the key role I played in helping my company survive the recent recession. The company was undoubtedly ill-prepared for the advent and impact of the recession. While we certainly did have a tough time of it, we successfully rode out the recession and the cost control measures ultimately resulted in a significantly healthier outcome.
