Really good experience and enjoyed working at Hall facilities
The good thingsFriendly staffs and colleagues who really worked as a team. Many friendly and helpful encounter with students, professors, staffs and contractors that defines my NTU experience. Makes me feel like part of the NTU OCH family and welcomed.
The challengesTime to upgrade digital key facilities as I feel it's quite old and breaks down often especially access to common area like toilets.

Luck might not play a big role in jobs but over here, it really matters who is your reporting supervisor or management is. Given that workflow processes are weak, departments are nice to each other superficially while bad mouthing behind closed doors and thus, you must be either really good at defending yourself or be in the 'inner circle' to be protected.
The good thingsNice working environment with lots of greenery and chill-out spaces
The challengesPoor process workflow and what could be straightforward tasks tend to be overdone unnecessarily due to micro-managing or just to show that it's a 'challenging task'. What seems to be commonly adopted practices in other commercial industries or associated govt establishments are 'new' here and while they openly 'welcome new ideas' - the resistance lies deep within and will surface when they're actually being raised. Also when things go wrong - it's common to see supervisors distancing themselves as far as possible, with their defensiveness a common trait here, more so in some schools than others.

Horrible. If one has other research opportunites, don't come to this place to work.
    The good thingsThe school environment
The challengesSuper bad management. Owed me salaries and money that I paid in advance longer than stated in contract. The research group that I worked with lacked research ethnics. The worst universities that I worked in so far.

    Poor Managements, Work overloaded
The good things1. Lushy Green environment 2. Flex benefits & insurance coverage 3. Well-know University
The challenges1. No work-life balance. Work overloaded and need to OT almost everyday including weekend. 2. Well known University but with old system and software. Just started to implement new system and upgrade the system in 2-3 years back. 3. Off peak month falls only in June-July and Nov-Dec. 4. Pretty stressful, required to work more than expected.

Working in NTU is not what you think it is.
The good thingsworklife balance, good pace to retire if you intend to start a family, here is the place.
The challengesvery slow or no career progression. systems are outdated, increment is peanuts. you will feel unappreciated at times once the appraisal comes.
